‘We’re not looking for sympathy’: A few ‘distant relatives’ of the Boston Marathon bombers are making the effort to help in the wake of their deaths.

Posted by WAMU Newscast on January 11, 2019 05:09:01On Friday, the FBI announced it would not pursue charges against the Tsarnaev brothers.

But some relatives of the Tsarnaevs are making a different decision.

The family of Abdulrahman Alharbi, the Boston marathon bomber, is making a $10,000 donation to a Boston hospital that treats his son, and they’re not alone.

“We’re all in this together,” said Abdulrahim Alharobi’s son, Omar.

He said he was also surprised by the amount of support his family is getting.

“I think people are going to find out that the families have been very supportive,” Omar Alharabi said.

The family’s generosity comes as the FBI said it was no longer seeking to charge the brothers for the bombing.

The Boston bombing occurred a week before the Boston Celtics were set to play the Atlanta Hawks.

A spokesman for the FBI told WAMUs WBZ-TV that the bureau will not pursue any criminal charges against Tsarnaev.

However, the brothers have been charged with using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction.
