After a week-long delay, the Delhi government is likely to announce on Wednesday that the city’s massive rains will end on Wednesday morning.
The rains will reach Delhi from the north-east, leaving only parts of the city in danger.
The government is now looking at the possibility of an indefinite stay of the rain for the rest of the day.
In the event of an extreme rainfall event, Delhi has to be evacuated.
The city is currently being evacuated for several days, after the Centre issued a directive to all its departments and agencies to suspend operations on Thursday.
The Centre has urged the government to use the emergency to strengthen the existing power supply, and has also urged the state governments to make contingency plans for the possible floods in case of an emergency.
The power supply was restored by Thursday morning after the city was inundated for a third consecutive day.
